Surgical Critical Care Program Directors Society (SCCPDS)
Program Directors of Surgical Critical Care Fellowships began meeting informally in 2003 to discuss common issues in training Surgical Critical Care Fellows. The first meetings were held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST), which generously provided financial support. The primary topics discussed at the early SCCPDS meetings included training curriculum updates, ACGME competencies and developing a Fellowship Match program. After several meetings, it became clear that a sustained and concerted effort was needed from the Program Directors. In 2008 the Surgical Critical Care Program Directors Society (SCCPDS) was formally incorporated in the State of Rhode Island and granted tax-exempt status from the IRS as a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization.
Since 2008, SCCPDS membership has grown to nearly 100 world-class institutions. SCCPDS is dedicated to academic leadership, resources for professional growth, continuing education opportunities, support for incoming SCC professionals, and networking for SCC Program Directors, SCC Professionals, and current and future SCC Fellows.
